West Wales Watersports is a fully accredited RYA training centre with highly qualified and experienced instructors. There are a range of courses on offer to cater for all ages and abilities from beginners to experienced sailors. Teaching takes place in the mile wide bay at Dale, and at our Surf School in Newgale, in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Dale bay is recognised as one of the safest Watersports locations in the UK. Busy, but not usually crowded, the water quality is good to excellent and is tested regularly. As part of Welsh Water's "Green Seas" initiative there are now ultra violet sterilising plants in place for all the beaches in the area.
The centre is located on the water front and is equipped with changing rooms, showers and a
training room with video, DVD and TV.
We have an extensive storeroom which holds our wetsuits, buoyancy aids and a selection of boards and kayaks. All wetsuits are dunked in a sterilising bin at the end of the day and dried in our drying room.
Sailing boats: we have single handers and catamarans on shore, which are trolley launched from the slipway, and we have Wayfarers on moorings just off shore.
We have a watersports shop on-site, stocking a wide range of equipment, clothing and accessories:
Full range of Body Glove, Sola & TWF wetsuits.
Reef sandals & footwear.
Sola, Typhoon, Crewsaver TWF boots, gloves & accessories.
Teksport Kayaks - New & Used.
Bodyboards, skimboards & surfboards.
A wide range of clothing.
Windsurfing equipment can also be bought via mail order at the centre.
We are a dealer for Tushingham Sails, Starboard Windsurf & SUP boards, RADZ rig components, and the full range of Starboard accessories.
We sell second hand kit occaisionally through the season, ask for availability.
If you have any specific requirements please give us a call and we may well be able to help.
Licences and Recognition
The centre is recognised and accredited by the AALA and RYA.
As one of Britain's leading Watersports centres, we are particularly aware of all the factors that constitute a safe environment in which you can enjoy your Watersports. We regularly have induction days for all staff to familiarize themselves with the policies and procedures of the centre.
All our staff are qualified in at least two or three different sports as well as having top-level qualifications in their specialist field. They have RYA safety boat handling award, first aid at work and a Marine Radio operator's award.
There is a wetsuit friendly café within the centre serving hot and cold meals daily. Lunch orders can be booked in advance if you are doing a course at the centre.
Post Office and Village Shop
There is a Post Office and shop just around the corner from the centre. They stock groceries, newspapers and magazines, fishing tackle and bait, fresh bread and milk. Cash can be obtained from the Post Office.
